What is IOSH training?

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) is the chartered body and largest membership organisation for safety and health professionals. IOSH offers a range of professional qualifications that aim to improve standards of health and safety in the workplace.

IOSH is an internationally recognised body and on successful completion of each course learners will receive an official IOSH certificate, an excellent addition to any employee’s list of accreditations.

IOSH courses allow learners at any level the opportunity to enhance their health and safety knowledge to develop a better understanding of health, safety and wellbeing in a working environment.

 

 

 

 

How can you study?

With all three of our study options, learners will be supported by our qualified IOSH trainers and their in-depth health and safety expertise. We will take care of all the admin, including course enrolment, managing and marking projects and assessments, submitting results to IOSH and issuing IOSH certificates.

This will depend on which IOSH training course you decide to take and how you decide to study.

We have five main IOSH training courses:

You can study all these course via eLearning, virtual classroom or face-to-face classroom, depending on your prefered style of studying.

Each training course will have number of modules that you will progress through, followed by an end of course assessment.

To gain your IOSH certificate, you will have to study and successfully pass one of our IOSH accrediated health and safety training course.

To succesfully pass the IOSH course you will be required to study all the modules within the IOSH training course and complete the end of course assessment. Please note, you will need to achieve the minimum criteria to pass the assessment, which will be marked by our IOSH qualified trainers and is subject to moderation by IOSH.

To study our IOSH Managing Safely, IOSH Working Safely, IOSH Managing Occupational Health and Wellbeing or IOSH Safety for Executives and Directors course, you do not need any prior experience or qualifications. 

However to study our IOSH Managing Safely Refresher course, you will have needed to previously achieved your IOSH Managing Safely qualification, as this is a refresher course.

We deliver all our IOSH certificate courses in three study modes:

  • eLearning, a flexible option for anyone who wants to study online via our digital eLearning platdorm, allowing you to study IOSH anywhere.
  • virtual classroom, a combination of live online tutorials led by one of our IOSH trainers and access to our digital eLearning platform.
  • face-to-face classroom, where one of our IOSH trainers will come to your workplace or a location of your choice to deliver the training.

The time it takes to complete an IOSH training course will vary, depending on which IOSH course you decide to take and how you decide to study.

Our IOSH training take between one and three days depending on the IOSH course, plus the time you need to take the assessment.

IOSH-approved training is considered as lifetime learning - skills that will help you throughout your working life. However, as risk management is by definition a process of maintaining awareness of any significant changes in law and practice.

IOSH recommends that learners refresh their IOSH Managing Safely Certificate every three years. We run a special IOSH Managing Safely Refresher course for anyone wanting to do this, which is much shorter than the full course.
