The deadline for the first compliance period for the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) Regulations is 5 December 2015, by which time qualifying businesses will have to achieve compliance with the regulations and notify the Environment Agency. Air pollution is a worldwide problem, with the World Health Organization (WHO) revealing earlier this year that seven million people died as a result of air pollution in 2012, making it the world’s largest single environmental health risk. On Monday 1 December 2014, new shared parental leave legislation will come into force meaning parents whose children are due to be born or placed for adoption on or after 5 April 2015, and who satisfy eligibility criteria related to their working status, will have access to a fully flexible system of parental leave.
