Disclosure and barring service
The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is set up to help employers to make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from undertaking paid or voluntary work with vulnerable groups, including children. The DBS replaces the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) with the purpose of vetting and registering all individuals who want to work or volunteer with the vulnerable.
Employers should make applicants aware during the recruitment process whether this scheme is applicable to their role.
